I’m in love with this Korean ground beef bowl and not just because it’s on the table in a jiffy. I love the versatility of it – I can serve it with cauliflower rice for myself, and regular rice for the rest of the family.
Plus, it’s a nice departure from cheese and bacon. Not all keto recipes have to have cheese and bacon in them! Hungry? Let’s get cooking!
Ingredients to Make This Korean Beef Bowl Recipe
- Ground beef
- Yellow onion
- Carrot (skip if you’re doing strict keto)
- Fresh ginger
- Green onion
- Coconut aminos (or soy sauce if you don’t mind a few extra carbs)
- So Nourished brown sugar substitute (or your favorite brand)
- Sesame oil
- Sesame seeds (optional)
How To make This Easy Keto Dinner Recipe
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet. Remove the beef and drain the fat.
- Heat the sesame oil in the skillet over medium heat and add the onion, garlic, carrot, and ginger. Sautee for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the beef to the veggies in the skillet.
- Add the So Nourished brown sugar substitute and coconut aminos. Combine well. Season with salt and pepper and serve with chopped green onions and sesame seeds on top.
Chef Jenn’s Tips
- Add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes when cooking the beef to add a hit of spice, or pass the Sriracha!
- Add other veggies like sliced red or green bell peppers, zucchini, or any of your favorites.
- Topping it with sliced green onion and sesame seeds adds a lovely pop of color.
- Skip the onion and carrot if you’re doing strict keto.
- Beef is a great source of protein, but you can make this dish with pork, chicken or even turkey if you prefer.
- Use regular cooking oil if you don’t have sesame oil, but sesame oil adds a distinctive flavor to the dish.
What To Serve With Korean Beef Bowls
Is This Keto Beef Recipe Freezer Friendly?
Yes! In fact this is one of my favorite recipes for meal prepping.
When I make it, I make a double batch. Then, I simply wrap up portions of it in an air-tight freezer safe container and freeze for up to three months.
Then, I thaw it and heat it up for lunch or dinner. Tasty and quick!
Made this way, they sure are! There’s only XX net carbs per serving, and if you’re doing strict keto just omit the carrot and onion.
I use lean ground beef but you could use any quality cut of beef that you dice up small.
Carrots, onions, zucchini, celery…you can add any of your favorite veggies!

Step By Step Process
Keto Korean Beef Bowl
- 1 lb ground beef lean
- 1 cup carrot sliced thinly
- 1/4 cup yellow onion sliced thinly
- 1 clove garlic minced fine
- 1 tbsp ginger minced fine
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 3 tbsp coconut aminos or soy sauce
- 2 tbsp So Nourished brown sugar substitute
- 2 green onions sliced (optional)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds optional
- Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium high heat. Drain the fat and discard, and remove the beef and set aside.
- Heat the sesame oil over medium high heat and add the carrot, ginger, onions, and garlic. Sautee for about 3 minutes or until the onions are soft and the carrots are tender-crisp.
- Add the drained beef back to the pan and mix well with the veggies.
- Add the coconut aminos (or soy sauce) and So Nourished brown sugar substitute and mix well. Heat over medium heat.
- Season with salt if needed and serve with chopped green onions and sesame seeds on top. Enjoy!
