These coffee drinks are so good, and with a touch of chocolate, they’re even better!  The whipped coffee topping adds bold flavor and a dramatic finish, while the mocha base keeps everything smooth, chocolatey, and comforting. It’s quick, indulgent, and perfect for cozy mornings or an afternoon pick-me-up.

The contrast between the warm mocha base and the airy dalgona foam makes this low carb drink feel special without any complicated steps. It’s easily customizable with different milks or sweeteners and works just as well for a quiet moment at home as it does for impressing guests.

For the Hot Chocolate

  • Almond milk – Or your favorite keto friendly milk

Heat the almond milk, heavy cream, cocoa powder, and stevia in a small saucepan over medium heat, whisking constantly to fully dissolve the cocoa. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and cook for about 3 minutes, then remove it from the heat.

While the hot chocolate heats, add the instant coffee, Lakanto Gold, and boiling water to a mixing bowl. Use a hand mixer to whip the mixture for 3 to 4 minutes until it becomes thick, pale, and fluffy. A deep mixing bowl helps prevent splashing while whipping.

Divide the hot chocolate evenly between two mugs. Spoon the whipped dalgona coffee over the top of each cup. Serve immediately while hot.

Chef Jenn’s Tips

  • Use instant coffee or espresso only; regular ground coffee will not whip properly.
  • Whip the dalgona until stiff peaks form, so it sits cleanly on top of the mocha.
  • Warm the mugs with hot water before assembling to keep the drink hotter longer.
  • Adjust the sweetness after mixing the mocha base if your cocoa powder is very bitter.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Dalgona Mocha Latte as-is, or finish it with a light dusting of cocoa powder or shaved chocolate. It pairs well with your favorite keto biscotti or a slice of chocolate loaf cake. I love this as an after-dinner drink, too. Serve it after a meal of Chicken Scampi, a tasty Pork Stroganoff, or if you’re cooking for one, this Monterey Chicken

Storage

This drink is best enjoyed fresh. The whipped dalgona topping can be made up to 1 hour ahead and kept at room temperature, but it will slowly deflate. Re-whip briefly before serving if needed.
