Let this chill in the fridge for about an hour before serving. The flavors genuinely improve with a little time to blend.

Chef Jenn’s Take on Broccoli Salad with Bacon

Serving this right after mixing is fine, but it genuinely tastes better after an hour in the fridge, giving the flavors time to blend together properly. Do not skip that resting time if you can help it.

Toast the almonds and crisp the bacon while the broccoli is being prepped, it saves real time and keeps everything moving at once. Cook the bacon in whole strips and chop it afterward, or chop it first and fry it that way, either order works fine, whichever is easier for you.

Adjust the sweetener to your own taste, this dressing is meant to strike a sweet and tangy balance, and everyone’s preference lands a little differently. Do not forget the bacon either, it is genuinely the backbone of this salad.

Not an almond fan? Toasted pecans, sunflower seeds, or your favorite nut all work in its place. One reader who does not even like broccoli said this salad won her over completely, which tracks, since broccoli is not exactly my favorite vegetable either, and I still make this one often.
