This is different from my air fryer version, the smoky grill adds a real dimension of flavor you cannot get indoors. Keto bacon-wrapped grilled asparagus is smoky and salty, with the light flavor of asparagus playing well against it.

This can be prepped ahead too, so it is ready to go onto the grill the moment you fire it up.
Keep the heat on the low side, high heat causes flareups from the bacon fat, which will burn the bundles before the asparagus is done.

Chef Jenn’s Take on Bacon-Wrapped Grilled Asparagus
Choose asparagus bundles where the spears are all about the same diameter, thicker or thinner does not matter, as long as they are uniform, for even cooking.
Do not make the bundles too big, just 2 to 3 spears, or you risk them not cooking through while the bacon overcooks. Toss the asparagus with oil, salt, and pepper first. Wrap the bundles starting at the top, holding the end with your thumb while you spiral the bacon down the length of the spears. Use regular bacon, not thick-cut. Let the bacon and asparagus come to room temperature before grilling, they cook more quickly and evenly that way. Grill over medium heat, turning every minute or two, moving the bundles away from any flareups.
Peppered bacon makes a nice flavor twist if you want to switch things up.
If you need to store raw asparagus for a few days before cooking it, trim half an inch off the stem end and stand it upright in a jar with a bit of water at the bottom, like flowers, then cover loosely with a bag. Do not let condensation build up on the tips, that turns them slimy fast.

Fire up your grill and preheat it to a medium-high heat, then turn it down. You don’t need too high a heat because the bacon will drip grease and cause some flareups.
While your grill is preheating, toss your asparagus with the oil and salt and pepper.

Then, grab 2-3 asparagus spears and wrap them in bacon. Start at the top, and hold the end of the bacon with your thumb while you wrap the bacon down the asparagus in a spiral.

Grill them, turning every minute or so, moving them out of the way of flareups. When the bacon is crispy around the edges, they’re cooked and ready to go!
Make It A Meal
This pairs well with just about anything else off the grill, like Lemon-Oregano Chicken Kabobs, or make it a veggie feast with Grilled Veggies.

Storage
Store raw asparagus by trimming half an inch off the stem end and standing it upright in a jar with a bit of water at the bottom, covered loosely with a bag. This dish itself is best eaten fresh, technically it can be frozen after cooling, but the asparagus loses its crisp and the bacon goes limp.
Frequently Asked Questions
That’s going to depend largely on how big your asparagus bundles are and how hot the grill is. Keep turning them when they’re on the grill, so they don’t burn. Expect them to take about 10 minutes over medium heat.
